ThRevelstoke HMP Draft Section 4 July 2023 2e Revelstoke Station Heritage Conservation Area was created to provide long-term protection to the heritage character of the residential area that developed rapidly between 1897 and 1915, a period of early, permanent settlement centered around the historic Revelstoke Station, that previously existed along the mainline of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

Heritage Alteration Permits

New development and alterations within the Revelstoke Station Heritage Conservation Area require a Heritage Alteration Permit. The City can approve and issue the permit if the project is consistent with the Official Community Plan guidelines for heritage protection. The Revelstoke Station Heritage Conservation Area has been established in the City’s Official Community Plan to preserve the notable heritage features and character of this area. Some Heritage Alteration Permits are delegated to staff while others are required to go before Council for a decision to be rendered. See Section 12.8 of the Development Approval Procedures Bylaw for more information.

Prior to completing a Heritage Alteration Permit application and submitting to the City, it is important to review the Heritage Alteration Permit Guide to understand the review process, timelines, and submission requirements.
